42 watt--6400 kelvin compact fluorescent light bulbs
Most news stories about global warming recommend that consumers switch to compact fluorescent light bulbs. But are they really that good for the environment?
Did you know that 95 percent of the amperage a light bulb used goes to heating the bulb. Go Fluorescent: One of the easiest, cheapest, most proficient and cost saving ways to green up your house is to switch your fittings to a green friendly illumination option. I have CFLs in every fixture in my house, except for the fridge, oven, microwave and two fluorescent tube fixtures that are built in. In addition to using a fraction of the wattage, CFLs have a much longer usable life than incandescents, typically lasting between 6,000 and 15,000 hours, compared to 1,000 hours or so for out-dated bulbs. Within the first 500 hours of use, your Compact fluorescent bulb has made up for it's initially higher price. With the right house illumination, any boring corner can glow, every nook can look splendid or can simply add a different aura to any room. The light is usually slightly different from that of incandescents, often slightly less yellow and slightly more pink, more purple, or more blue.
Three Way Compact Light BulbsHow does a compact fluorescent light bulb hassle? The bulbs were too big for many fixtures, expensive (up to $25 each) and they threw ..... Durable - Since LEDs do not have a filament, they are not damaged under circumstances when a regular original bulb would be broken. Benefits: Long-lasting - LED bulbs hold out 10 times so long as compact fluorescents, and 133 times longer than typical incandescents.
Other alternative lighting choices include LED lighting: Many cities in the US are replacing their original coming and going lights with LED arrays because the electrical power costs can be reduced by 80% or more. Because they are solid, LED bulbs hold up well to jarring and bumping. Flashlights and lanterns that utilise white LEDs are becoming increasingly common due to their durability and longer battery life. Light for remote areas - because of the low power requirement for LEDs, using solar panels becomes more practical and less expensive than running an electric line or using a generator for fittings. LED lamps have current efficiencies of 30% with higher levels attainable (recently up to 85 lm/w LED`s are available) , and a lifetime of around 50,000 hours, but currently are struggling to deliver the required intensity of light output for domestic uses while maintaining a reasonable working lifespan, at a reasonable cost.
